Recon

For developers, indie hackers & startup founders

Grow your audiencewhile you build.

Your whole social presence, handled. Write one line about what you did and tick where it should go. Recon writes a version for each platform in your voice, makes the short video, and schedules it: posted for you where the platform allows, one tap everywhere else. No agency, no editing app, no content spreadsheet.

Join the waitlist we invite people every week 7 days free, no card then $12/mo or $19/mo.

how it works

Say it once. Recon does the rest.

  1. 01

    Say what you did

One box. Write it however it comes out, add a screenshot or a clip, and tick where it should go.

  2. 02

Get a version for every platform

Each one written for how that feed works, in your voice. Nothing made up, nothing posted until you say so.

  3. 03

    Approve, and it's handled

Each version goes out at that platform's best time. Where Recon can post for you, it does; everywhere else it's one tap.

Every version follows what gets reach now: an honest hook, a post worth sharing or replying to, and none of the clickbait, engagement bait or hashtag walls that feeds push down.

the second job

Building is your job. Posting shouldn't be a second one.

  • Write the launch thread
  • Cut the demo into a 30-second video
  • Rewrite it all for LinkedIn
  • Find that screenshot again
  • Trim it to 280 characters
  • Post at the right time, every day
  • Remember to post again on Thursday
  • Add captions to the video
  • Turn the changelog into something human
  • Make it sound less like an ad
  • Resize for Reels, Shorts and TikTok
  • Keep five platforms in sync
  • Pick hashtags nobody reads
  • Stay consistent for more than two weeks
  • Explain the feature without the jargon

Recon does every one of these for you. You just approve. Or don't even do that.

one input, everything out

Feed it anything. Get everything.

  • commitfix: webhook retries no longer double-send
  • noteShipped dark mode. People asked for 6 months.
  • screenshotNew onboarding flow, 3 steps instead of 7
  • releasev2.0 — offline mode and faster sync
  • milestoneFirst 100 paying customers

8 ready-to-post pieces: a thread and posts shaped for each platform, plus a vertical video for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.

everything included

One platform. Nothing else to buy.

The writer, the video editor, the scheduler and the social media manager, in one queue you check with your morning coffee.

Writes like you

your notefixed the dumb timezone bug finally. server saved UTC, browser showed local, so dates showed the wrong day. took all day

recon draft · in your voicelost a whole day to a timezone bug. the server saved UTC, the browser showed local time, so dates landed on the wrong day. lesson: store UTC, convert only when you display it.

Learns from posts you've already written, and turns a messy note into something worth posting. No robotic brand voice, no “excited to announce”.

Makes the videos

Short vertical videos with burned-in captions, built from your real screenshots, code and numbers. No editing app.

Never cringe

A built-in checker flags hype phrases, engagement bait, hashtag walls and made-up numbers before anything goes out, and hides anything that looks like a leaked key.

Ideas from your GitHub

Optional: connect a repo and Recon reads your commits, pull requests and releases every morning, and suggests posts about the ones worth telling.

changelog · rendered by Recon

short-form video

Reels, Shorts and TikToks. Without opening an editor.

01

Every release, as a video

Your version, your three best changes, your screenshots. A 20-second changelog reel, ready to post.

02

Show the code, explain the why

The actual diff types itself in, with captions that say why it matters. Developers stop scrolling for this.

03

Bug stories people finish

Symptom, cause, fix, in three beats. The most relatable post you'll make all week.

04

Milestones, with real numbers

Customers, users, releases. Only numbers that are really in your data, counted up on screen.

autopilot

Set it once. Your week fills itself.

Clean drafts drop into your open slots and go out at your times, unless you skip them. Where a platform can't be posted to directly yet, you get a one-tap reminder instead. Sunday stays a rest day. (Autopilot is part of Pro.)

built for builders

Made for people who ship.

for developers

You'd rather write code than captions.

Connect your repos. Recon reads what you merged and released, and turns it into posts and code walkthrough videos that other developers actually want to read.

You · @yourhandleBluesky · posted
“webhook retries now carry an idempotency key, so receivers see one alert per incident.”

for indie hackers

You're the product team, the support desk and the marketing department.

Build in public without it eating your evenings. A quick note from your phone becomes a thread, a LinkedIn post and a reel, scheduled across the week.

You · @yourhandleX · thread 1/4
“Day 90: first 100 paying customers. Here's what actually moved the needle.”

for startup founders

Your launch deserves more than one tweet.

Every release, milestone and hire becomes a steady drumbeat on every channel your customers and investors follow, in a voice that sounds like the founder, not an agency.

You · @yourhandleLinkedIn · scheduled Tue 9:00
“v2.0 is out: offline mode and 3x faster sync. Here's the 20-second tour.”

every platform

One queue. Everywhere your audience is.

  • Posts directly todayBluesky · Mastodon
  • One tap today: text copied, app openedX · LinkedIn · Threads · Facebook Pages
  • Video ready to uploadInstagram · TikTok · YouTube Shorts

Direct posting for the rest switches on as each platform approves Recon's app. Until then it's one tap, with a reminder at your posting time. Autopilot (clean posts going out on their own) is part of Pro.

built in public

Who's behind it, and what it does with your stuff.

Built by @CyberrDevvone developer, building in public

Recon is built by one developer, in public, and promoted with Recon itself. If something's wrong or missing, you'll be talking to the person who builds it.

Recon's own posts, written by Recon, show up here as they go out.

GitHub and your code

  • Optional. Recon works without GitHub. If you connect it, Recon only ever reads, and never writes to your repositories.
  • Public repos need no special access. Private repos need GitHub's repo permission, which GitHub only offers as full access, so Recon asks for it only if you choose to.
  • What's kept: commit messages, pull request titles, release notes and a short summary of what changed. Never your full source. Anything that looks like a key or password is hidden before it's stored or sent to the AI.
  • Disconnect any time: remove the repo in Accounts, or revoke Recon in GitHub → Settings → Applications.

Questions

Does anything post without my approval?

No. By default nothing goes out until you approve it. On Autopilot (Pro), clean posts go out at your posting times, and anything the checker flags still waits for you.

Can I edit the drafts?

Yes. Every platform's version is editable, with one-click rewrites (shorter, more concrete, more like you), and you can regenerate any of them.

Which platforms does Recon post to for me?

Bluesky, Mastodon today. X, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook Pages: one tap. Recon copies the post and opens the app at your posting time. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts: the video is ready to download and upload. More switch to direct posting as each platform approves Recon.

What counts as a project and a video?

A project is a product you post about, with its own repos and links (Starter has 1, Pro 3). A video is each short reel Recon makes; one reel works for Reels, Shorts and TikTok (12 a month on Starter, 30 on Pro).

Are text posts limited?

No. Posts are unlimited on both plans.

How does the waitlist work?

Join, and we invite people every week. Sharing your link moves you up. Once you're in, you get 7 days of every feature, free, with no card.

What happens after the trial?

Pick Starter ($12/mo) or Pro ($19/mo). If you don't, Recon pauses: nothing is drafted or posted, and everything you made stays.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes, from Plans & billing. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.

Is my writing used to train AI?

No. Drafts are written with Anthropic's Claude through its API, and Anthropic doesn't train on API data. Details in the privacy policy.

Your next post is one line away.
